Accountability - The state of being accountable; liability to be called on to render an account; the obligation to bear the consequences for failure to perform as expected; accountableness. If you are accountable to someone for your training goals you are more likely to succeed. Whether this person is your spouse, a training partner or your coach you know you have to let them know how your practice or weight loss is coming. They accept no excuses, you either do what you said you would or you don't. On the other hand your "accountabili-buddy" (I don't remember where I heard that term) needs to be someone who will give you positive reinforcement when you tell them what you accomplished each session. If your accountabili-buddy is your training partner, you get even more reinforcement by knowing they are expecting you to be there and it becomes your responsibility to encourage and support them as well. This constant feedback and positive reinforcement makes it much more enjoyable to train and many times you will set new personal records from the encouragement of your workout partners. An excellent example is to look at the personal records that the ladies set this week in snatches and in some cases squats & double cleans. Many snatched the 16k for the first time & did so authoritatively, one nailed the 20k and we were all cheering each other on, something you just cant get when training alone. Find someone to train with, to be accountable to and watch your goals melt away just like the fat yo are trying to lose.
